Did you know that you are key to keeping your clients staff happy? It might seem strange to think that you can impact their workplace satisfaction. But, a recent survey has suggested that 1 in 10 staff avoid workplace toilets due to concerns about hygiene. You’re more important than you realise.

Over half of those same employees surveyed also said they’d been appalled by bathroom conditions at their work on at least one occasion in the last six months.

So what can you do to make staff happier?

As an Operations Director or Support Services Manager, keeping track of cleanliness levels when your staff aren’t on-site can be overwhelming. The tips below allow you to offer a superior service that will keep your contracts, and their staff, satisfied.

You could save them money

Create your own survey. Ask your contracts to give you employee feedback on the levels of cleanliness in-between your visits. If problems are identified, can they be solved via greater product purchasing or do they need additional services and visits in order to keep cleanliness levels high and staff happy? 34 million working days are lost each year due to minor illnesses like coughs and colds, by improving your cleaning regime you could also be saving your customer money.

You can keep staff happy

Is there someone within that workplace who can check the hygiene standards regularly? Monitoring can be helpful for ensuring that a good level of cleanliness is being maintained and for you to solve problems quickly when they occur. By encouraging your clients to keep an eye on their hygiene standards for you, it will keep their staff satisfaction higher and people will be happier.

Take the pressure off them

If any of the hygiene issues are being caused by running out of products (hand soap, antibacterial spray, hand towels) then make sure you’re offering these. Look at what they’re using and provide helpful solutions that will keep staff happy and cleanliness levels high. If there are seasonal peaks in product use, address these with your client so that they are prepared with no last minute panic. Anything you can do to make their lives easier helps make your service invaluable.
