What is EN14476?
EN14476 is the virucidal standard that cleaning products need to be certified to in order to be effective against viruses. Having this certification means the product contains anti-viral ingredients and is proven to kill viruses.
What’s the difference between EN1276 and EN14476?
EN1276 certification means that a cleaning chemical is anti-bactierial. It is a European standard used in the hospitality industry and food preparation environments that standardises the effectiveness of chemical disinfectants. To qualify for this standard, a disinfectant must effectively kill 99.999% of bacteria (most specifically MRSA) within 5 minutes of use.
While EN1276 means a product is anti-bactierial, EN14476 certification means the cleaning product contains antiviral ingredients and is proven to kill viruses.
Do all cleaning products and sanitisers have testing to EN14476?
No, not all cleaning and sanitising products have such extensive testing, which is why it’s important to make sure you are using correctly specified products in order to make sure your cleaning regimes are effective.
